Privacy Policy
This policy applies to all information collected or submitted on our site or in our apps.
Information we collect
No personally identifiable or tracking information is collected or derived by the app or the website unless you explicitly provide or allow it:
Name and posts: Some optional features allow you to enter a name and information to share publicly. This will be stored and may be visible to others.
Photos and locations: Some optional features allow you to attach photos and/or locations to your public posts. This will be stored and associated with the name you provide, and may be visible to others.
Background location: If you enable Automatic Reporting in the FI Driving app, your location will be checked periodically as you travel through certain regions of Fire Island, such as the beach, dune cuts, and interior roads.
If you travel on a relevant route segment, it may be anonymously reported to us (e.g. “A driver traveled across segment 4 of the beach route at 20 MPH at 8 AM”).
Locations outside of relevant routes, or not representing driving speeds, are not recorded.
This data is not associated with any other data you provide in the app, such as your name or photos.
Our server software may store basic technical information in its access logs, such as your IP address and browser version.
Apple may collect anonymous information from the app and provide it to us, such as crash reports and aggregate usage statistics. No personal or identifying information is included in what Apple provides to us.
Information usage
We may use the information we collect to operate and improve our app and website.
We may disclose information in response to subpoenas, court orders, or other legal requirements; to exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims; to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud or abuse, violations of our policies; or to protect our rights and property.
Accessing, changing, or deleting information
Any information you provide that is associated with your user identity (such as name, posts, photos, and locations attached to posts) can be deleted in the app.
Route-segment location data submitted via the FI Driving app’s Automatic Reporting feature is anonymous and cannot be associated with the user who submitted it.
